Things You Didn’t Know You Could Mail

November 5, 2019 by shipsafe

Does it make you wish you could send around a bunch of ‘unconventional’ items through the mail? Well, you most certainly can!

Generally, when you mail a package through a post office, you are required to answer a list of questions usually sounding like: does your package contain liquids? Does it contain fragile goods? etc.

The good news is, as long as your item fits all the mandatory conditions and is not perishable or potentially hazardous, you can mail it anytime you want. Scroll down to read about some of the craziest things you never thought you could mail.

1.    A Piñata

Say, for whatever reason, you had to miss out the birthday party of your favorite person, well do not worry, you can make it up by sending them a piñata! It may not have crossed your mind but piñatas make an excellent birthday gift. Whether it is for a child or for your best friend, a piñata in the mail is definitely going to surprise the receiver; plus, bring a broad smile on their face!

2.    Candies & Chocolates

It’s easier to mail chocolates and candies than you may have thought. Mostly, the weight of the package is written on the box. As long as it’s less than 13 ounces, all you need to do is get a first-class stamp on it and pop it in the mailbox! Whether you send a pack of chocolates to your loved ones or a box of candies to your favorite colleague, it is surely going to be a sweet treat for them!

3.    A Potato

Why someone would want to mail a potato? Beats us! But don’t you just love knowing you can, in fact, mail a potato to anyone at anytime you want? It is a crazy idea but you can mail a potato to a friend or a loved one as a harmless, adorable prank. It’s probably the easiest way of taking someone by surprise. After all, who’d expect to receive a potato in the mail!

4.    Bottles

Sending a letter in a bottle may be a thing of the past but it’s not definitely obsolete! No, we are not talking about throwing a bottle into the ocean. We are simply suggesting mailing one! Yes, you can mail bottles to your friends and family but only the plastic ones. Glass bottles are fragile and needs to be packaged before you can mail them.

However, this is not the case with plastic bottles. All you need to do is put a stamp on it and ship it off! In fact, invitation in a bottle is a common thing nowadays. The trend has emerged as a fun and unique way of inviting your loved ones to a special event.

So, what crazy stuff are you going to mail first?

May 5, 2019 by shipsafe

Pak Mail Shipping and Packaging Santa Fe New Mexico

Moving fragile items from one place to the other always causes stress, and it can increases tenfold when the fragile item to be shipped is a gift. No one wants to send or receive a broken gift item, therefore many people tend to steer away from the idea.

However, with proper packing techniques and expert shipping services (that’s us!), you can safely send a fragile gift to any destination without worry. That being said, there are several dos and don’t’s that you should keep in your mind when shipping fragile items.

Choose the Perfect-Sized Box

For any fragile or brittle item, it is important to pick the right size box for your shipment. The box should be well-fitted so that the objects can’t shift or hit each other during transit. It is also important that the items not be touching each other, and the box should provide enough space between each item to place some sort of cushioning material.

Position The Items Properly

Another important aspect of packing fragile items is their position within the box. For instance, glassware with wide openings should be placed upside down, while any brittle object should be thoroughly wrapped and laid flat in the box to avoid breakage. Items placed in random positions are more likely to be damaged during shipment.

Cushioning is Important

When packing fragile gift items, make sure you are using proper cushioning to offset any stress or shock they may endure during their journey to the recipient’s address. There are several cushioning elements that you can choose from to best suit your particular items needs.

  • Bubble wrap
  • Foam peanuts
  • Styrofoam fillers
  • Cardboard pieces
  • Cloth
  • Sleeves

Shipping Insurance

Consider shipping insurance for fragile gifts you are sending. If the item has a worth greater than $100 most shipping companies will automatically add on coverage, however, you can purchase shipping insurance on an item of any value.

Shipping Furniture: Here’s How You Can Do It Right

November 29, 2018 by shipsafe

When moving to another country, one of the most expensive tasks is to move furniture to your new residence. You need to choose the right service to ensure that your belongings are moved in a safe and secure way. You do not want to lose your valuable possessions due to inefficient handling. Due to the ever-increasing competition in the shipping industry, you can find a quality service at affordable rates. Here are the major factors you need to consider in order to find the right moving company.

Choose Wisely:

Don’t choose a moving company in a hassle. Take your time to go through the details of different moving companies. Keep your budget in mind and look for suitable moving options within your budget. A thorough research may take longer, but it’ll help you grab the best deal in town.

Ask for recommendations from family members and friends. Look for other families that have recently moved near your new residence and ask them about shipping services they have used. Also, look for customer reviews online. First-hand information about a shipping service will assist you in acquiring quality services and keep your worries at bay.

Get in touch with the company to negotiate their rates. Opt for a company where the staff is polite and courteous. Professional workers willingly answer the queries of their customers. However, if they are not interested in addressing your concerns, they may not be able to ship your freight in an efficient manner. Look for other options instead of going for non-professional services.

Consider Shipping Costs:

The cost of moving mainly depends upon the weight and volume of freight. You’ll have to pay a higher amount if you want to move loads of luggage. The prices of moving companies also differ in the quality of service. You can opt for shared shipping services if there isn’t much freight. This will help you cut down the costs of shipping.

Another way of saving costs is to pack your furniture on your own. The services of professionals are usually a bit expensive. However, they will efficiently pack your belongings to keep it safe from potential damages. It is recommended to hire professional services for long-term benefits.

Look for any hidden costs. Discuss the rates with the company before finalizing the deal. Don’t forget to ask about discounts. Also, read the contract thoroughly before signing it.

Shipping Schedule:

Discuss the delivery schedule of your household items with the moving company in advance. What happens if delivery is delayed for a few days due to weather conditions or a delay in the clearance of freight at ports? Plan your schedule accordingly. Keep your plans flexible so that you don’t have to worry about your freight after you’ve moved to a new country.

Get Insurance:

Ensure your freight before shipping it over to another country. You can claim insurance if the shipping company breaks or loses your furniture and other household equipment. Although professionals can efficiently handle your goods, mistakes are inevitable. Instead of regretting later, take some precautionary measures to reduce the risks.

Safest Method for Packing china Before Shipping

August 17, 2018 by shipsafe

Shipping off items like fragile china dishes holds both, monetary and sentimental value for the receiver as well as the sender. Nothing could pain either of them more, than knowing that it reached its destination in pieces.

Most of the times, china survives through generations as it passes down from grandmothers to daughters — imagine the shame and heartbreak if the dishes and crockery were broken or damaged while being shipped.

To avoid such a situation, let’s learn one of the best ways to pack them:

  1. Gather Supplies:

Begin by gathering all the right supplies. Get your hands on sheets of some bubble wrap, reinforced double-wall boxes with dividers, tape gun, Styrofoam peanuts, and shipping tapes.

  1. Wrap them:

Every piece of delicate china should be packed separately so that those with a lid or other accessories do not get lost or break during shipment. Make sure to work on a clean open space and wrap each item neatly. Bubble wrap each piece separately. and Try to add as much of a cushioning effect as you can.

  1. Boxing:

Boxing is different for different china dishes. In the case of mugs, glassware, and bowls, use cardboard boxes with dividers and put each item separately in the provided space.

In case of flat dishware like plates, make sure to cover the bottom of the box with a layer of protection. It could be crumpled newspaper wrap or Styrofoam guards. Now put the safely wrapped dishes on the cushioned surface. Ensure that plates of similar size lie together. Or go from the biggest to the smallest. Cover the sides of the boxes with Styrofoam peanut as well as the top along with proper wrapping paper. By the time you are done packing all your china, make sure there is no open or free space left in the box. Every empty space should be used to create a pillow of safety.

Where mugs and small bowls are placed flatly and side by side in a box containing dividers, china dishes such as cream pitchers and plates should be placed in narrower boxers and stacked upon each other.

  1. Label:

Labelling everything neatly will save you lots of time and trouble later. In case the receiver did not intend on opening every box at once, they’ll have a pretty easy time taking out exactly what they need.

If there are some china dishes in the house that you are too scared to ship off, then place your trust in those who know how not to break it (pun definitely intended). It’s about time those china dishes reach those who they were intended for.
